Walt,

I ate in all of the restaurants you mentioned.  A bit later around 68-70. 
Tad's was a local steak house chain and the price probably had doubled, but 
4 bucks for a complete steak dinner was cheap even if not the best cut of 
meat.  The Clam Broth House was a step up in reputation and cost from 
Schaeffer's.  You missed so fine eating there but also saved a few bucks!
