(erielack) New Connection - Croxton Yard

Paul & List,
As originally constructed, the New Connection utilized Track 4
of the former DL&W Boonton Line to connect with the former
Erie Greenwood Lake Branch "Third Track", thereby providing
freight trains with access to Croxton Yard. In the early days when
the Boonton Line ran through Paterson to Denville, I recall riding
HB1 from Hoboken to Scranton and catching an approach signal
as NE4 entered the New Conection at the Upper Hackensack Bridge
en route to Croxton Yard. This incident is a reminder that certain
traffic flows in the New York Terminal were asynchronous, resulting
in some trains originating at one place and other trains terminating
elsewhere.
