(erielack) EL Scans



I thank Richard Onorevole for the color shots he
scanned, posted and linked. Really excellent.
They revive great memories.

If I'm not mistaken, that shot of 413 working the
siding was taken along the Newark Branch. At
the east end of where they elevated the ROW.

The shot of the U-boat and SD45 was taken at
South Paterson Jct., and that's the ramp from
the elevated Newark Branch, at the west end
of the branch, where it connected to the old Erie
NY Division main line.

I think I see the South Paterson home signal in
the background of the latter photo. I well
remember being on a Suffern-bound suburban
train one evening and being held at that signal.
Then hearing the EL engineer tell the conductor
over the train intercom, "Earl, for the delay
report put down six minutes at South Paterson
Jct, account restricting signal."
