Well, this is true, but a slow-speed derailment add "operating interest," especially if it replicates what happened on the prototype. Of course, if a car derailed on a model "New Loop", it really wouldn't fall anywhere besides the dirt. So theoretically, your model equipment shouldn't be harmed.
