(erielack) Freight units on passenger trains

It was not a frequent occurrence on the DL&W for freight units to show up on
passenger trains but I did see it on a few occasions. I am referring only to
my personal observations in the last year or so before the merger. This
photo is another taken by George MacLean and shows a freight unit on a
Boonton Line passenger train. This is probably Train 1017 which normally
rated a single F3.

 

The caption on the snapshot reads "DL&W #915 at Denville, NJ 10/17/60".
