The locomotive in question was Southern E8 6913, which pulled the Southern Crescent, then went to NJT was freed from the DL&W station site in Binghamton in May of 2001, along with the three Erie cars that CVRHS acquired as part of the deal. I was one of the people that got the E and the remaining equipment out after a massive effort. The E8 has since gone on to Knoxville, TN, home turf in SR territory. I'm told that it has been stabilized a bit, but last I heard not much else has been done. At least it didn't get a date with the scrapper, though it was close!

Former Southern/NJT E8 or 9. Last displayed by DL&W Binghamton station,
later moved to end of Syracuse branch before it crossed Beiver Street as you
see it there. Since moved south.

I went railfanning in Binghamton the other day. I stumbled across what I
think to be the old track alignment for the Syracuse/Utica Branches. I just
checked it out on Google Maps and it looks like I am correct.

Anyhow, if you follow the remaining track north from the old main (on Google
maps) parallel to Montgomery Street it seems to dead end at Bevier Street.
Right at the end of track it looks like an old locomotive. Almost like a
cannibalized E8. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.
