(erielack) The May calendar shot

It's time for the monthly review of the EL 2001 Calendar photo...

MAY

An Erie RS2, in pretty clean paint, sits at Tuxedo, NY on a gloomy day with
a train of four Stillwells. The first Stillwell, one with arched-top
windows, has a retrofitted baggage door added in place of one of the windows
(third window from one end). The two windows on either side of the door are
also blanked out. Does anyone know more about these retrofitted combines?
Also, this car appears to have different trucks? (though the photo angle
might be disguising this a bit)

This shot is great for modelers, showing terrific track detail, as well as
all the details to be found on the Erie RS's (corner markers, tall MU
stands/drop step, retrofit "larger" hood louvers, wagon wheel antenna). The
typical RS2 "fuel fill spillage" is evident on the side of the cab and sill
- - this is why the RS3 fuel fill was moved down to the fuel tank!

Other details to note: The small "T" flag atop the Tuxedo station; different
styles of low-level switchstands; classy station platform lights; Engineer
peering back for the "go-ahead signal" from his Conductor...
