But MY Kodachrome will outlast your digitals.
Hell, in 10 years the devices you use to store digitals on will be totally
outdated and not obtainable. In about 15 years from now, we'll all be saying
"Whats a CR-ROM?"
The outcome 20 years from now will be the modern day equivalent of storing
jpegs on 5 1/4 floppies 10 years ago.
And as digital technology gets better and display devices (monitors) get more
refined, I will be able to rescan my slides to the better resolution standards
of tomorrow, while the Jpegs and Tiffs of today won't be upgradable, as the
digital image you have today will be the digital image you are stuck with
forever.
Its just another sign that our society is infatuated with anything that
produces instant gratification. First it was 1-hour photo development, now
we focus on byapssing the process altogether. We apprear to not have much
patience anymore. Thats pretty sad.
Just sign me,
Not suckered by nifty, flashy, temporary gadgets
