Hi folks,
I'm here in my hotel room in Camp Hill, PA - I'm attending the
PRRT&HS convention here this weekend, but I always end up seeing EL stuff in
one form or another. Seen here this weekend:
* There is a string of about 12 EL 33000-series 12-panel hopper cars
sitting in the intermodal yard. They appear to be filled with ballast. Still
running after 26 years, in their original paint!
* There is also an 8-hatch ACF 1790 covered hopper sitting in Enola
yard. This is one of the noted DL&W "drop frame" covered hoppers. It
currently wears black paint, but that's slowly fading away, revealing the
black EL lettering on gray paint beneath. I got a telephoto shot of it from
Route 11/15, and I'll post it up when I get the photos developed. There was
a paragraph of text chalked on the lower right corner of the car that was
unreadable through my viewfinder, so hopefully when it's developed it will
be readable.
25 years gone... and still many signs around!
