Re: (erielack) Diners and Erie vs Lackawanna

Rather cavalierly said:

If in the end we acquire the ex-Erie diner, it would be restored to reflect
the EL colors and era.

Um, hello? If it's DL&W it gets restored DL&W, but if it's Erie, it gets
restored EL? Can't say that I follow that logic. Just because YOU prefer
the DL&W to the Erie, I don't think that is the basis on which to make that
decision.

If it's the Erie diner that is acquired, I'd prefer to see my donation, when
it happens, to be spent on two shades of green paint . . .

PS, Understand that I don't want to start a war, and it's not my
organization, but I think some equity is in order.

PPS: Tim, your assessment of the DL&W's situation in the '50's is right on
the mark. I also have to observe that the management cohort of the Erie was
substantially older than that of the DL&W in 1960, and as time went on and
the Erie men retired, a lot of DL&W people came into responsible positions,
and from what I can glean from the historical record, the operation of the
EL improved with time.
