(erielack) Diners Erie vs DL&W ? I'm still in.

I find it completely short sided that after offering
to help a fledgeling group one would pull out just
because of resentment that happened over 40 years ago.
I personally, have NO affinity towards the EL and would
be much happier if there was just an Erie Society, but
there is not. I like, and have a historical interest in
the Erie. I never saw the DL&W and as a railroad, I
have a curiosity for it,and have many models of it,and
I have learned a great deal from this board about
it,but I also do for the NKP,CB&Q,and many others.
Besides the EL paint scheme,I really don't like post
merger railroads in general.

Being from a historical society that is rebuilding
equipment,I don't just bail out if a piece I don't
care for is getting restored. My work ethic, and
dedication is the same, regardless of railroad or
equipment, while I'm there. Above all railroad
affiliation, I love steam, to work on it is the cats
meow, and doesn't matter what road. Again I personally
would love to be working on an Erie Berk instead of an
NKP berk,or an Erie K-5 Pacific. I take what I get.

When it comes to REAL equipment I feel an
overwhelming sense of fullfillment when a project gets
done and that I was involved in it. Either monitarily
or actual physical participation. To put aside
petty"my railroad is better" toughts and save any
piece of railroad history should be a goal of
everyone.

Am I happy they are going after an Erie car, YOU
BET!! I feel not enough Erie stuff got saved or is
being preserved. Would I love that the car is painted
in shades of Green, YES YES and YES. Will I not
participate because you won't play my way , NO. At
least it is preserved and can be repainted later to
it's rightful colors.(Jokingly said)

MY offer still stands, AND if you need any assistance
feel free to contact me as FWRHS owns several cars and
has several private car owners as volunteers,
assistance will gladly be offered. And as a last
appeal, PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE,paint it ERIE. Hopefully
this car will be available for pool service by the
time we do trips.
