Check out the following URL for some info on the preservation effort behind 
conversion of the PRR Rochester branch to a trail.  

Of particular interest is a 3-day map-oriented travelouge of some 
bikers who followed the trail from Cuba to Rochester.  They begain 
in Cuba because most of the branch west of there was obliterated by
the Rte 17 expressway.  There are a few instances where they have 
to jump over to and bike the abandoned EL River Line ROW on account
of missing bridges on the PRR.
