I noticed another interesting element in the May EL calendar. The
RS does not have a sealed beam headlight. Probably the Erie was
in the process of converting these headlights in the late 50s, but it
had not occurred to this engine yet.
In later years, well into the merger, the freight RS's still had the
original headlights. Which makes me wonder if this was a safety
issue with passenger trains to convert the headlights on passenger
units.
