Do RDC's meet current FRA standards regarding automatic train stop? I
thought that was the reason that MetroNorth gave up its RDC's--too
difficult, if not impossible, to retrofit them with ATS. Also, don't
forget that RDC's have 2 brakestands, 2 control stands, and an engine
that's difficult to service. Occasional use is fine, but daily use would
require more servicing than a push-pull trainset.
