Re: (erielack) Erie/DL&W Main in NYS



I'll have to check that out next time I'm down that way. I hadn't noticed
that-or maybe I've seen it so many times it's just part of the wallpaper!!
Maybe I need to get on the local road to Lounsberry occasionally.

I know there's an old underpass along NY 17C(old 17) which allowed the
farmer to get to his land between the LV Auburn Branch-the line that used to
parallel the Erie from Sayre to Owego-and the road. It's kind of treed in at
this point, but you can still see it, as it's close to the road. Same
situation: the embankment, once high enough to require an underpass for
access to the isolated land, has been plowed away-it's usually a corn
field-so that the concrete structure stands tall in the field.
