Re: (erielack) Tab's East Orange Comments

That crack wasn't meant to be an aspersion on the good citizens of those two
towns, or any EL/Erie/DLW employees, and I apologize if some thought that
was what it was intended to be. I was merely making a sarcastic comment to
add to the remark about "avoid the loss in property value when those damned
trains start running in the back yard." Both arguments have been used by
NIMBY types to oppose restoration of rail service on lines which have been
long out of service. A while back, we had a discussion in a similar vein
about possible service revival on the Cleveland-Youngstown line. One of the
comments in opposition to the service, made by a real estate agent, of all
people, was that "undesirables would take the trains out from Cleveland to
steal cars, and take them back to the city." The whole notion is
preposterous. That was the basis of my remark. Let's hope this ends this
discussion. I'm not, nor is the rest of the list, interested in a flame war
over this. Please send any other comments to me off list. Thank you.
