(erielack) EL SD45-2 from Atlas=Intermountain

Dear List,
I was talking with some folks about the upcoming Kato SD45s, and was told
that Atlas will be making a chassis for an Intermountain SD45-2. Read below

a follow-up indicating that the EL-Conrail version will be produced by
Intermountain. Anyone out there going to help with lettering?

All the SD Dash 2 series locomotives had the same length frames (SD38-2,
SD40-2, SD40-2SS, SD40T-2, SD45-2 and SD45T-2 were all 68'10" with 43' 6"
truck centers). That's why the SD40-2 has such huge porches. And they WERE a
little longer than the original SD series, which also all had the same
length frames (SD 38, SD38AC, SD39, SD40 and SD45 were 65' 9=BD" with 40'
truck centers).

A very reliable source talked directly with the CEO and Marketing Manager at
InterMountain at the just-over NMRA convention. Intermountain has indicated
that they will produce the EL/Conrail variation along with the other
"standard" versions. Time to start squirreling away those dollars!
