(erielack) Boonton Line update



Thanks to a friend of mine for faxing me over an NS Bulletin order. This summarizes pretty well what the NS future of this line is. My comments are in [brackets]:

Effective 8:01 PM, Wed., Sep. 23, 2002

The Boonton Line Main Line at MP 11.7 [Montclair Conection] is now connected to the Montclair Line via a new connection track. All NJT traffic to and from the Hoboken Terminal will operate on main tracks using the new connection.

In addition to this change, the Harrisburg Division Lehigh Line Train Dispatcher will control the remaining trackage between MP 11.7 and West End, MP 2.2. The Lehigh Line Dispatcher can be contacted on Road Channel 1, AAR 46.

NORAC Rule 97 is in effect on No. 1 and No. 2 Track between MP 11.7 and "DB", and on Single Track between "DB" and West End, MP 2.2. These running tracks are under the control of the Lehigh Line Dispatcher.

The Single Track between "DB" and West End, MP 2.2, is designated the West End Running Track.

No. 1 and No. 2 Tracks are designated No. 1 and No. 2 Orange Running Tracks, respectively

Restricted Speed not exceeding 15 MPH applies on all Running Track except 10 MPH over Bridge at MP 7.6 [WR draw]

A new hand-operated facing point switch for eastward movements on No. 1 Track (NJT) is placed in service at MP 11.7. The switch governs movements to either the new NJT connection track or to No. 1 Orange R.T. The switch is equipped with an electric lock with a 5'00" time release. Norfolk Southern crews destined to No. 1 Orange R.T. at MP 11.7 must first get permission from the NJT Train Dispatcher to operate the electric lock, and permission from the Lehigh Line Dispatcher for permission to occupy No. 1 Orange R.T. 

The location of the hand-operated switch at MP 11.7 is designated "Clair."   [short for "Montclair", I assume]

"DB" Interlocking Station will be in service continuously until 4:00 PM, Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002. After that time, "DB" will become a part time Interlocking Station manned each Tuesday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM until further notice [does this mean all Newark Branch trains will be running on Tuesdays?]

Northern Region System Section Timetable Special Instruction 138-2 is in effect at all road crossings equipped with automatic highway warning devices [what's this instruction? Flagging the crossings?]

No. 2 Orange R.T. at MP 11.7 (Clair) has been disconnected. Norfolk Southern crews operating to and from Dover and destined to the Orange Industrial Track must operated on No. 1 Orange R.T.
