I believe (and Vince Lee, you can authoritatively answer this one, I bet) that the 28th St. yard lasted until 1975, but did the EL float anywhere else? Were there still marine operations on Conrail Day? What dates were the various float operations dropped?" That sounds like an interesting project-collecting in one table the start and end dates of all the various NY harbor carfloat services, with lots of footnotes! Tom Flagg in his NY Harbor RR's, V1 notes that the Conrail Final System Plan called for the termination of all included RR marine operations on 4/1/76. An article in the latest RMIG "Transfer" notes that the LV's W27th St yard closed by 1966, so they folded almost a decade earlier than the Erie. Its 149th St Bronx terminal was abandoned in 1969. The B&O's W26th St terminal opened in 1898 and closed around 1974 (Flagg in B&ORRHS "Sentinel" V23, #1) Vince Modelling the Erie Wyoming Divison in Pennsylvania and the Erie 28th Street Terminal in New York City East and West Railfanning Photos: http://www.eastwestrails.com/ ____________________________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org ------------------------------
