I can personally attest to the video game effect of flying down that road between Canisteo and Addison in the late-70's/early-80's, in my case chasing Conrail freights (in my younger, less careful days). Those trains were really moving. Paul B I don't recall now when he hired on, but I think it was some time in the mid 60s. That would make his opportunities for travel on EL's passenger trains rather limited. I'm not sure I'd want to chance missing the call by relying on freights. He would have gotten either one in Wavely in any event. His stories of close calls always involved travel down the road along the Canisteo at harrowing speeds never meant to be attained on that road. I don't know what he did in the bad weather. That would have posed a serious problem here in the winter.
