The DL&W (and for a few years the EL) and the NKP had through sleeping car service between New York and Chicago. I was wondering how this space would have been sold and did it matter who's car was where? For example, if there was an empty roomette on a NKP sleeping car, could the DL&W sell the space between, say Elmira and East Stroudsburg? Could the NKP sell space on a DL&W sleeper between Cleveland and Chicago? How was it decided which railroad's sleeper would be used? Was it done on some kind of mileage equalization basis?
