Rich, do you know the exact routing for these trains (which I presume are dedicated runs) from Marion-KC? What are they projecting for volume, and was there any mention of adding other customers? This traffic is significant, since more than 30 years after EL and MoPac began steel-wheel interchange of UPS trailers, Chicago remains somewhat of a barrier to domestic intermodal traffic moving between the coasts. This must be the former GSA facility. Paul B Well, how times have changed. I attended the ribbon-cutting last week for the Marion Intermodal Facility, located at the old Marion Army Depot east of town, which today is now the Marion Industrial Center. The facility handles loading/off loading of Schneider trailers/containers (with CSX providing crews and power), and was developed to bypass the Chicago area interchanges, to provide more timely service into the central Ohio area, and runs directly to Kansas City through cooperation w/BNSF and KCS. Westbound trains depart promptly at 6pm for anyone in the area... Rich Behrendt ELHS #384 The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org ------------------------------
