I was a senior in high school at Susquehanna in 1951 when the Centennial Train came through. The whole school was a the depot to meet the train. It was right after Truman fired MacArthur. Before the day of the trains passing, there were rumors that Truman would be aboard recreating the trip by Millard Fillmore. Then there was a rumor that MacArthur would be aboard. The final rumor was that when each heard that the other was to be aboard they both declined. Bing Crosby at his reqular radio show made a mention of the Erie Centennial. I copied both the consist of the Centennial train and the museum train which visited Susquehanna some weeks later.
