Nope: "Remarks: Inbound Erie train at 21st St. crosses the Santa Fe. The E-L
merger didn't become official until 1960, but the 832 is already wearing the
marks of the new company."

It's just a bogus date. Both units have all four portholes, when did portholes
start to bite the big one on E8s and how long did 832 keep them all?
Did 832 always have a firecracker antenna? When were the MU receptacles below
the headlight added ? How about that Erie painted RPO?

Erie 832 Chicago IL - 05/01/60 - can't tell if it has a firecracker antenna,
but it still has the ERIE nose logo. No MU recpetacle below the headlight:

EL 832 Binghamton NY - Feb/62 - EL paint, firecracker, nose MU, all four left
side portholes intact:

EL 832 Youngstown OH - 3/62 - EL paint, firecracker, nose MU, all four left

EL 832 Youngstown OH - 5/1/66 - all four right side portholes intact:

EL 832 Hoboken NJ - 10/26/67 - missing one left side porthole:
