I haven't seen Paul's customary calendar comments, so I'll have a go. The final image for this year purports to show TC-4 backing down into Port after stalling on the hill. It has the usual headend block of auto parts for Ford Mahwah (including 2 or 3 cars of frames) which will be set off at Hillburn yard in Suffern. It likely has set off Maybrook cars at Port, to be picked up that afternoon by NE-74. Presumably this is a late-morning or early-afternoon shot, since TC-4 was scheduled out of Port at 1030. That means the NYCB on the adjacant track is hours late since it was due in Croxton at 0830. IIRC Bill Sheppard said the NYCB was usually unloaded on second shift, so this behind schedule operation was perhaps more or less the norm. This consistent failure to provide the advertised second morning availability no doubt contributed to its abrupt discontinuance in October 1973, along with lack of commitment from partner N&W in the post-Dereco period. The description as all-TOFC train isn't quite correct. It wasmarketed for both TOFC and carload traffic, and photos generally show a few boxcars in the consist. The trailer lettered for long-defunct trucker Glendenning represents the substantial motor carrier Plan I business which declined substantially the following year when I-80 opened across PA. It's riding on a G-85 flat, built to carry both Clejan and conventional TOFC. In the foreground is the access road which occupies the roadbed of the former third track.
