I rode on the last day, from Hoboken to Cresskill. It was a Saturday; I rode the afternoon train. I can't find the ticket to confirm the date. Service had been cut back to Sparkill from Nyack sometime after April, 1965, because it shows in timetables of that date. I don't know how long the truncated operation ran but, toward the end, they brought the equipment back to Tenafly for overnight storage: 3 RSs and a dozen or so Stillwells. It was the move to Hoboken which doomed the Northern's passenger trains. The switchback all around the south end of Croxton added many minutes to the trip at a time when the NJ Turnpike was shortening bus transit times and offering one-seat service to midtown.
