RE: (erielack) ELHS Archives.

Bob and all,

I didn't mean to make anyone mad.

But, I get irate when someone starts to make assumptions that I know are
mislead, without all the correct info.

>It's going to cost to move the Archives no matter where they goes and from
>what little we are told, it has to be moved.
>Silence at the ELHS is not a work in progress, ITS A WAY OF LIFE!

I think that the board feels that laundry should not be aired on a list that
is not part of the society.
It should be done on the website.

I have been a member now for 15 years. The ELHS board is in some kind of
transformation and I think that after the archives are set, it may transform
even more.

>My gut instinct tells me more EL fans live in NY, NJ and PA than other

>selfishly
>don't want to loose it?

Your gut instinct is probably right.

I didn't mean that Steamtown would't be a good place for it, but I think
that a lot of people would be upset if the money that has been dumped into
maintaining and holding the archives would be given up if it went someplace
that would hold title to it. I guess that their feelings are that ELHS would
not have control over it anymore.

I have never been to Akron to see them, as I don't have the time. I know
that a lot of people have had a hard time with Akron getting to them, even
being persistant about it. THAT is wrong, and it should go to a place that
it is open.

>No I don't have a membership list. Do you? Does the EL Society put one
>out?

I have only seen the membership list once, about 10 years ago, when I had to
mail out flyers for a spring meeting. the list should be known to members.

>And finally, I'm sorry your think all of us easterners are cry babies and
>malcontents. I wonder >how the rest of the eastern end of
>the membership feels about that?
>
I didn't mean that all easterners are crybabys. Or malcontents. The vast
majority of people are lurkers and learners, remainder vent their thoughts,
FEW say anything good (not enough time to voice their opinion?).
We have our fair share of moaners out in Ohio too. NOTHING can make some
people happy.
Unfortunatly, they are the ones that are usually heard, they like a cat in
heat, cannot be ignored.
Ohio, at least on the weather channel, is located in the east.

I am a true Erie Lackawanna fan, DL&W and Erie are just part of it. I'm 43
years old and had seen little of the EL before CR. I have walked, driven,
or rode on nearly 700 miles so far. I am impressed with both predecessor
roads infrastructure and operations. I'm just trying to piece together what
is gone. Talking to people that have worked on or remember what has
happened.

Again, I hope that the board makes the right decision and puts the archives
where they can be viewed publicly and will be without harm, Scranton or
elsewhere.

Maybe see you at the spring meeting in Jersey.

Sorry to upset all.

Joe Schveder
