Bob Bahrs and Mike Del Vecchio make compelling arguments for Steamtown to be
the repository for the EL archives. I have original DL&W-Erie files
pertaining to the Jersey City-Hoboken passenger coordination and the
Binghamton-Corning consolidation. I intend to donate those files to
Steamtown.
If long-term preservation of the archives is important, I can't believe
that some donation language can't be worked out which would provide that in
the event the entire archive might be lost, destroyed, etc. the extant
material would be returned to "whomever." I don't intend to try to do that
because I don't want the material returned.
