Well, maybe the N&W could have implemented a version of the Van Sweringen's original plan and reroute traffic over and improved Nickel Plate line from Lima or maybe even Kent to Buffalo. Scranton was problematic after the choice on the east end was the M&E or the Greenwood Lake line (as we saw in actual practice <g>). Of course, the NYS&W more or less made a living doing a piece of Buffalo-NY with the doublestacks for awhile.
