Re: (erielack) Newburgh Branch(s)

  Ray,

What was the purpose of two Newburgh Branches?

Okay, even if built Before Graham Line, what was it's purpose when other one later used by CR existed. You say now it was built before Graham Line, then why was it connected at Highland Falls with the later Graham Line that then technically would start there and not at CP NJ as now, This then had to be a part of original Main Line from Harriman since Graham was built north of this Newburgh Branch. Newburgh Branch then actually started at CP NJ then Highland Mills. Still do not get why two lines of same were built,

This line also passed West Cornwall west of Route 32 before passing the O&W before New Windsor up the hill.

May be Central Valley Station that remains on Graham/Newburgh Line which explains why Graham Line for Freight Only had passenger stations and not on the actual line itself.

I tried tracing original Newburgh Branch when i was in New Windsor and could not find in in all locations. Part of ROW can be seen in woods north of the Mountainville Station but can only walk in maybe six feet and overgrown from there. A topo map may help here.
