RE: (erielack) Feed Loading (40' Box)



Duh, I should have realized he was referring to the AAR designation; "CH" 
has been used by me on this list  ;-)  Interestingly, "L" designates 
"special" car type, although I believe covered hoppers are now either the 
most common or second most common car type. On EL freight consist printouts, 
"LC" designates loaded covered hopper. Does anyone know if this use of 
non-AAR codes was the procedure on other RR's? Seems like it would be, to 
facilitate interchange.

"LO" is the AAR designation for covered hoppers, I've never seen "CH"
used though?
