Paul, this is a great photo. If you look closely, you see that the train is 
behind the U-boats on a parallel track. You're correct in assuming this is 
2/NY-100, and was probably on the move when the photo was taken, arriving 
from Chicago mid-day via its customary ex-Erie route. Standard practice was 
for this train to proceed directly to the piggyback pad. Since the train 
rarely exceeded the 43-car capacity of pad track A16, it was rarely 
necessary to double it in. TTAX 972238 is a class PSH10A, which was Pullman 
Standard's first batch of all-purpose flats, 966 cars built 1968-70. It's 
still in its original BCR paint scheme; I wonder if the large dot suffix on 
the rep mark means it's slated for repainting into the new yellow scheme. 
The ICG trailer is most likely carrying a consignment of meat from western 
Iowa, an uncommon load by 1976. It appears the fuel tank has been leaking 
enroute, which makes you wonder about the condition of the lading. This 
illustrates the main reason EL began de-soliciting meat traffic in 1970: 
high L&D payouts. Chances are the trailer will return to Chicago with a Plan 
II1/2 UPS load.

The U-boats have likely just arrived off another train and are 
uncharacteristically filthy. Time for a trip through the Croxton engine 
facility wash rack.

A pair of burly 6-axle U-boats lead what is assumably Train 2/NY-100 
arriving at Croxton off the "Erie side." Note the ICG trailer in the 
background on what is probably a string of cars from another inbound pig 
hotshot.
