The A1 between Paris and Lisle was almost bumper-to-bumper while TGV and Tunnel trains scooted past. The ring road around Amsterdam is as stop-n-go as 128 is around Boston. And that was 2005 when gas/diesel there was USD$5/gallon equivalent.
