Okay, you have a point and that could make sense,cost less, but I think NS wouldn't allow it until the entire Lehigh Line was double tracked. Right now they just have a few passing sidings west of Bound Brook, so its mostly single track. The R&N/CP(along the exCNJ) would also have to rehab the line through the Lehigh Gorge as well. They could also take the Washington Secondary and get to Allentown/Jim Thorpe/Scranton that way, but that line would have to be completely rebuilt by NS as well, which would cost millions..!
