You guys can tell how up to date I am reading my email from this posting that I read today, only a month late. Looking at the photo of the EL 3681 at Chicago the thing that caught my eye the most was all of the B1 box cars in the train. Also look at the names on the sides of those box cars. All of those roads are also gone. The B&B department has a 40 box car they use as a tool car and that is the last one I ever see out here in the PNW. It makes me think also of how things have changed even since the 1980's. Used to see all kinds of C6 hoppers with the names of the eleveators on them in all kinds of bright colors. They also have gone away to become just memories. Time just keeps on marching on. Still waiting for someone to perfect time travel. You never realize just how good things are until they are gone.

The Chicago photo ID's the location as Burnside IL, which is a little
confusing because my SPV Atlas identifies it as a small town in western IL
on the TP&W. Close by the Chicago location was IC's Burnside shops. The
photo was taken at a busy location just west of Pullman Jct, where from
north to south (I think) the BRC, C&WI and B&OCT/CRI&P shared the alignment.
That's a B&O position-light signal behind the train, so I believe this train
is westbound. It's impossible to ID which train since CO-97 and all the
runthroughs came through here. This is close to the location of the photo I
posted several weeks ago of the interesting track arrangement at Pullman
Jct.
