Re: (erielack) EL Vehicles

Mr. Haines and list;

If you mean the prototype vehicles, yes, they were yellow; I do not know
whether they were 'safety yellow' or 'EL yellow'. From all of the color
photos I have seen, I think EL yellow would work fine, but I would like to
hear other opinions on that topic.

If you are referring to the models, no, from what I have seen on-line, they
are either some sort of beige and also dark green (EKO does/did a military
version).

This is not a ready to run EL m-o-w vehicle; it will require painting, and
also detail parts. Custom Finishing makes a hi-rail wheel set, and also a
plow set. An outfit called Northeast Decals did N scale EL decals at one
time, the logos would probably be perfect for this project.

And I should apologize to all for not stating that these are HO scale.

I do have some EKO models (but not these Jeeps) and it should be noted that
they are pretty crude by todays standards, but with a little bit of work
they can be quite nice. They vehicles they make are most often foreign, but
they do make early-60's domestic vehicles (some of which may have been
Euro-versions of domestic vehicles) like Ford Thunderbird, Zephyr, Comet,
and Falcon; Lincoln Continental; Chevy El Camino; Dodge Dart, De Soto and
Plymouth Suburban wagon, and Studebakers as well. These would make great
loads for early auto-racks, and are very cost-effective for that purpose, at
about 2.50 +/- per vehicle; that's a lot less than a carload of Classic
Metal Works cars. Again, availability may be an issue (although a quick
search on Walthers.com shows many of them still available, but not the Jeeps
:().

With a little work, one can see a model of this. Walthers actually imported
a  series of inexpensive model vehicles from a company called  EKO;

And would these have been yellow ? Safety yellow or EL yellow? H Haines
