Re: (erielack) N scale passenger cars

This is great news, Steve! Finally, one for the little guys! From what I
have seen of the HO offerings, they ought to be real sweet, and very
welcome. Thanks for the heads up.

By the way, may I take this opportunity to again state the ELHS Modeling
News e-mail address, so that if any of you hear tell of any new products,
they can let me know so, that I may insert the appropriate content into the
Modeling News column in From The Workbench? If you do have information,
please let me know at <mn_AT_erielackhs_DOT_org>.

Many thanks in advance;

Subject: (erielack) N scale passenger cars

N-scale passenger modelers rejoice! I know there was a an extensive
discussion about N-scale passenger cars recently (didn't follow to closely,
I'm HO) and the lack thereof. Going through my email this morning I had an
email from Rapido announcing their N-scale line of passenger cars due 2009.
For those interested, here is some of the text (didn't see an update on
their site, but didn't look too hard either):

The first two car styles are the Lightweight Coach and Duplex Sleeper. All
Panorama Line passenger cars feature:

  a.. Super-detailed underbody
  b.. Body-mounted Micro-TrainsR couplers
c.. Stunning trucks molded on all four sides
d.. Fixed steps or partial skirts, as appropriate
e.. All air, steam and electrical lines represented
f.. Insulated 36" metal wheelsets (no pizza cutters!)
g.. "Easy-Peasy" battery-powered interior lighting operated by magnetic
wand (included)
h.. Flush windows with painted gaskets and shades
i.. Full interior detail including armrests and headrests
j.. Diaphragms with etched brass end gates (not shown)
k.. Painted metal roof grab irons applied at the factory
l.. Multiple car names and/or numbers per paint scheme
m.. Will operate smoothly on curves down to 11" radius
The first paint schemes for The Panorama Line N scale Lightweight Coach and
Duplex Sleeper are:

  a.. Amtrak (Phase 1)
  b.. Baltimore & Ohio
  c.. Canadian National (1954 Scheme)
  d.. Canadian National (Wet Noodle)
  e.. Chicago & North Western
  f.. Erie-Lackawanna
  g.. Great Northern
  h.. Milwaukee Road (1950 scheme)
  i.. New York Central
  j.. Northern Pacific
  k.. Pennsylvania
  l.. Southern Pacific
  m.. Union Pacific
  n.. VIA Rail Canada
  o.. Undecorated
Car names/numbers will be announced on our web site within the next month.
The MSRP will be $47.95 each. I'm not making the official announcement for
at least a couple of weeks, so you can't reserve these cars yet.

That's it. Here's the page for Rapido:
