Yup, just like my relatives did over 100 years ago! They even posed with the steam engine, were they the first railfans in the area?? Click on the link.... http://www.geocities.com/shohola_rail/station.htm Now, the Erie station is long gone, but you can easily make out where it was located, I walked on the same platform they did, I think I found the exact same spot the photo was taken. Also if you are ever in the area be sure check out the former Shohola Glen Hotel that still stands across the tracks, and after grabbing a beer at the bar (Still open, with the strangest bar stools you will ever sit on) ask the bartender if you can see the bowling alley on the second floor, trust me it's worth the Weird Pennsylvania encounter :) Okay, here's an image of sunset over the Erie Shohola Depot circa 2008, looks a bit different than the old photo. Along with a plaque dedicated to the Civil War prisoners who were killed in a train on the railroad nearby, this poster was hanging in the old Hotel, we all missed the Erie Conductor Clambake at Shohola Glen on Thursday August 6th. You could get here for a dollar from pretty much anywhere on the Erie's New York Division it seems (Enlarge the photo) and the Dancing was FREE, what a bargain! Oh, here's the NYC (Erie) caboose at the local museum down the road. No comment.. the rivet counters can have a field day with this one hee hee.
