We went on a fan trip on the Staten Island Railway sponsored by the LI Sunrise Trail NRHS last Saturday: two Alco S1s with a trio of R-44 cars; lots of photo stops; we were allowed to run around the shops taking pictures of everything. Return to St George was in the SIR's two cabooses pulled by the Alcos. A great old-timey fan trip. We got a good look at the ex-L&NE hoppers they use in work train service, but during the shop tour, we were told tha one of theirwork flats was ex-Erie (perhaps with an intervening owner, but not CR and maybe not even EL). Does anyone know the SIR car number? Or the history?
