That 'old red brick buildiing ' is the former DL&W passenger station (of fond memory). It features in many of my funny stories about when I worked there in the 1960s. The tower is Sammy Miller's (RFE) torturetower where the DL&W men were harrassed to within an inch of their lives. Even more interesting is the still extant 'radio tower' near the building. This was erected prior to WW1 when the DL&W experimented with transmitting messages to & from moviing trains....this in 1914 or so. There's quite a bit of information about this in one of Taber's volumes on the Lackawanna. When I went to Binghamton to work, the crews casually referred to it as 'the radio tower'. I had no idea that it was from the dawn of radio...I thought it was put up in the 1950s for use with the engiine radios.
