Well, time to turn the EL calendar once again... The August 2008 shot features an RS3/RS2/RS2 combo leading a freight with a high-and-wide load right up front, crosssing HX drawbridge in Secaucus and only a few minutes from its final destination at Croxton. The focus is a little soft but the image is nevertheless fascinating (including the "puffy cloud" sky). In addition to the orange H/W load, there's also another special load ahead of it - what appears to be the operator's cabin of a crane. In the distance can be seen HX tower (still there today, albeit boarded up) and the first of the signal bridges when crossing the Meadows here. The most imposing thing in this photo is the GIANT concrete counterweight on the HX bascule span! I'm assuming it's well-anchored at the top? :) - Paul The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
