DL_W_565_as_Black_River_Chester_NJ_Feb_62_rs.jpg (image/jpeg, 1024x630 138970 bytes, BF: 4.64 ppb)

Folks,

Here is a shot I took of ex-DL&W No.565 under steam in Chester, NJ in
February 1962 when the Black River & Western was hoping to start their
tourist operation there, before they moved to Ringoes and acquired ex-GW
No.60.

The gentleman in the foreground is my father, to whom I owe my live-long
love of trains and of the DL&W in particular! Beginning at about age three,
he would take me to the Morristown, NJ station Saturday afternoons to watch
the Twilight Limited head west, then the eastbound Phoebe Snow, followed by
the eastbound Pacific-powered milk train from Branchville, which made a
station stop in Morristown. By age 12, when I took this photo, I was taking
my own photos of trains under his guidance.
