My point is: PRR, NH, and DL&W, CSS&SB -- among many others -- used OLD (not new) passenger cars and flat cars for wire trains. What is so special about the French equipment that it requires major capital outlay instead of economic modification of otherwise surplus cars? With all the Comet I's going to agencies all over the country for re-use, why couldn't several of them have been turned into a wire train? As to the lack of passenger cars builders in this country, do you think we ought to let Ahlstom, Bombardier, Kawasaki and the others know that their assembly plants here don't exist? Randy Brown - -------------------------------------------------------------- Part of the problem is theres not enough demand for Quantity in passenger Equiptment nor the TAX incentive to have the Factory in the USA Maybe soon that may change but till then id not fault NJT for going to france ect when there is no American Vendor to supply them This Message Sent by Donald Kern The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
