Re: (erielack) Punch cards----Interchange

I am certainly not an expert on the punch card operations but I do recall
that on EL our (Operators and Dispatchers) timecards were a two week (14 day)
punch card. The top line of the card had our name, employee number, position
number and some other payroll codes, etc. We filled in our rate if it was
not provided and there were rows for travel time, overtime, etc. These cards
were sent to the Auditor of Disbursements in Cleveland at the end of the pay
period. Pay sheets from the pay book that showed basically the same items
were sent to the Chief Dispatcher.

Also at Warren, the Clerk (in later years Freight and Passenger Clerk) would
prepare punch cards for each inbound ore car. Those cards would be run
through the sorter and then filed away. Hand written "bonner cards" would filled
out with the Car Initial and Number, contents (Wabush Ore or whatever) and
stamped with the date and time arrived. Those hand written cards would be
taken to the B&O/EL phone box at the Pipeline for the B&O crew to use when they
pulled the ore to the Trumbull Cliffs Furnace (Republic Steel--Warren.)
