The NY&LE is running steam excursion this weekend (Oct 11 and 12) from Gowanda to South Dayton and return. Train leaves Gowanda at 1100 and 1400 for the two hour trip. This is the former Erie's B&SW Division which includes riding on the steepest grade on the former Erie RR, 2.72 percent just east of Dayton, and passing under the original main line to Dunkirk at the Dayton Arch. The steamer (0-4-0T--same as one used last year) will run lite from Gowanda to Dayton and then power the train from Dayton to South Dayton and Return.
