Paul, A few years ago I sent you some pictures of the final run of the Phoebe Snow. I don't know what this train is unless it is the first section which I think ran to either Binghamton or Hornell. I thought the first section was pulled by an ex-Erie E. The first section did run mostly with ex-Erie coaches and William White's car '300' still in D&H Pullman Green. Check into those pictures I sent and see how it matches the calendar picture. Sorry I'm tardy on this, with the "Great Nor'easter" we had last week, our house has been without power for three days, and the weekend was spent removing all the limbs that fell in the backyard (ugh!) The November photo in the 2008 EL calendar features a pair of relatively clean E8s under a murky sky pulling the final westbound The Phoebe Snow into Binghamton in October of 1966. The color on lead ex-DL&W E8 816 seems a bit "punched up" in terms of saturated color, makes me wonder if a little Photoshopping was done here? Regardless of the grubby weather, there are a couple of bright spots in the photo: The PFE reefer in the distance coupled up to a grubby DL&W boxcar in the former Erie yard, underneath a gantry crane; a nice variety of passenger equipment in the train; and the relatively clean yard in the foreground (save for a nicely manicured patch of grass! :) A shame we can't see what local power is sitting at the Erie enginehouse that's nicely blocked by the train consist, but most likely it's an EMD switcher, a usual denizen of Binghamton. The grubby weather does really fit the mood of the final run, however. - Paul The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List http://EL-List.railfan.net/ To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
