I often drove with friends to Binghamton from Scranton in my late teens along Route 11, which followed the EL pretty much the whole way. (Beautiful drive, I highly recommend it over I-81.) The motivator was that in the 70's the legal age for drinking beer was 18 in NY (it was always 21 in PA), and we had friends to stay with there. Now Scranton is no sun spa by any means, but it always used to amaze me how it would be sunny or partly sunny as we left home, but almost always cloudy (and maybe rainy) by the time we got to Binghamton. One day when we left Scranton it was 60 degrees and sunny. By the time we were in Bingo, it was 33 and snowing. When we returned the next day, the highs were still in the 60s in Scranton. It was like the weather had a consistent boundary somewhere just south of the NY-PA border. - -----Original Message----- From: Schuyler Larrabee [mailto:schuyler.larrabee_@_verizon.net] Sent: Wednesday, November 05, 2008 5:16 PM To: 'EL Mail List' Subject: RE: (erielack) Time to turn the calendar... > > > Hey, I used to get sunburned when I was a kid!!! > > > > SGL > > ....but ya don't need direct sun to get sunburned :-) I went to school in > Binghamton.
