Todd,
As one who has run trains here, it sure made me feel good to see part of the cutoff restored. I wonder how many of us veterans will live to ride on it.

NJ Cou!> nty Route 605 passes over the former Lackawanna Cut-Off at this point. This bridge is located on the heavily traveled County Route 605 (Sparta-Stanhope Road) border of Hopatcong, Stanhope and Byram. To improve the safety at this crossing of the Lackawanna Cut-Off the old narrow, right angled one-lane structure that was built in 1911 has been bypassed. This project included a new bridge to replace the old one. As you can see the old structure (Photo 1 looking westbound) has been repaired and left in place for bicycle and pedestrian use, also notice the amount of snow on the ground from yesterday's winter storm in October!. > The new bridge was constructed to look similar to the DL&W standards (Photo 3) used almost 100!
years a
go, for historical purposes. It cost the Lackawanna Railroad 11 Million to construct the entire Cut-Off itself. Total cost of the new bridge you see…. 7.5 million dollars!> > Todd ~> > > > > > _________________________________________________________________> Stay up to date on your PC, the Web, and your mobile phone with Windows Live.> http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/msnnkwxp1020093185mrt/direct/01/> > The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List> http://EL-List.railfan.net/> To Unsubscribe: http://Lists.Railfan.net/erielackunsub.html
