Oh, you see, there were people at USGS who had very clear foresight . . . 8^) But a bit more seriously, I think that at the time of the Valuation Survery, this line was a "Lackawanna Railroad" line, though I am not dead certain about that. The SB&NY was, of course, the original corporation that built this line, but that appears on the map, likely, because the SB&NY still existed as a corporate entity, and as a legal matter, it had to show that. Does someone here have the dates of what I'll call the "effective merger," when the DL&W took over all the operations and the SB&NY seemed to disappear, and the "legal merger" when it was legally merged into the parent company? And Frank, can you tell us the date on that drawing? It seems to be very well obscured by the black rubber stamp over it.
