RAILPACE, January, 2009, p.5, shows Comet I coaches in Utah, getting ready for Salt Lake City commuter service. How did they get there? By rail. Why? Utah Transit Authority, like several others around the country, is smarter than NJT in recognizing that these cars have much life and many miles left in them. I'm sure that the taxpayers of Utah, California, and other states are truly grateful to New Jersey's taxpayers for subsidizing their rail transit programs by offering this equipment at what are demonstrably bargain prices. Randy Brown - -------------------------------------------------------------- This New Yorker has spent a lot of time in our sister City of Los Angeles. I came to know MetroLink but in my time there I never saw EL/NJT comets in LA and any passenger equipment being moved by the UP. Can you tell us how and why they wound up in LA? Apparently, Erie Lackawanna is everywhere. Thanks very much for posting this.
